NZ on top. Would like another try to ice it here though...
Scott Curry answers the call. He is in. Shut the gate. This one is done
17-0. Kaka ain't kicking well but it's tough conditions to drop kick in
George Tilsley has been sent to the bin. NZ a man down now
Canada knock it on with open real estate in front.... NZ will wind the clock down here...
Knock ons galore out here. These conditions are terrible. NZ will rumble on though and England await at about 6.35pm
Tilsley scores. 24-0. Kick to come...
Cama kicks it. Sorry 24-0 final
South Africa and Aus are up now in their QF...
Still no score here between Aus and SA in their QF....
It's half time BTW. Has there ever been a 7s world series game that has been 0-0? Granted, maybe I should know this, but I don't
South Africa score first here. Up 5-0....
10-0 to South Africa, which gives them this game with only a few seconds to play
They will roll on to the semis and will meet the winner of Fiji v Argentina which is up next
After the Fiji game we have a 9-minute interval and then a vast collection of games that have very little significance as the shield, bowl and plate finals roll on. Basically it's for those teams in search of hardware that isn't as good as the cup
Rain falling at the 7s must just be the worst-case scenario for organisers, keeps so many people away during the arvo...
Argentina on top here early. Clearly not Fiji-style weather, this rain
Fiji have run in a couple of quick tries though. Crowd barring up. 14-0. Fiji rolling here...
Fiji are killing it here. Looking really good. South Africa awaits them in the semis. The semifinals are two crackers IMO with England v NZ and SA v Fiji. Could we be shaping up for a good old NZ v Fiji final? Would fire up the crowd...
Providing this crowd turns up. Still driving rain here in the capital..
Exceptional catering for dinner tonight. Top-quality meatballs. Back at the laptop working away now... Just having a delay here in the games between Canada and Samoa as a player is taken from the field on a stretcher. I didn't see what led to the incident but I hope it's nothing serious
NZ out warming up. They play in about 20 minutes. Semifinal time v England...
Aus and Argentina are currently playing to see who will meet Canada in the plate final. Then we have a brief intermission before NZ's semi...
Sevens is also the sort of weekend you don't want to go on Facebook as the endless stream of pointless photos is is a staunch rival to terrible photos of children or mundane updates about how much you love your partner
Aussie cruise to the plate final with a 34-0 win over the Argies. We now have a 13-minute interval
Beyonce's "single ladies" is playing on the sound system and it gets plenty of people on their feet...
Pretty much the whole NZ team warming up in the same blue boots. Have to presume they're the ones with the long studs. Intrigued to see if Cama starts or Kaka at pivot for the Kiwis.
I'd start Cama. Like his big-game experience. He just commands a game a little better than Kaka at the moment.
For the record, I'm tipping NZ to get up here over England. Like them a lot defensively. Remember though, I write about sports as I am not good enough to pick results professionally.
And, it's not raining. This is a nice time of the evening. The beautiful cocktail of alcohol, the fact NZ are still in the tournament and a party atmosphere...
It's also high time for those terrible songs that generally you would hate to hear but after 47 beers (approximately) you can belt out every word like you're on X-Factor
A lot of Fiji flags in the crowd too. They will be well supported when they play SA next
Here come NZ and England......
Kaka starting over Cama. Which proves I know very little
Will do my best to update as quickly as I can, folks.
England a man down due to an illegal tackle and he has been banished to the sin bin
0-0 here early. Lorde's "Royals" blasting....
Huge leveller in sevens is the rain...
5-0 to NZ, England down to 5 men with another in the bin...
Good intensity here. Nearly a minor scrap. Just handbags though...
