Ferns forcing Jamaica to play down one side of the court and the turnover comes. This is what Aussie Kim Green said they struggled with too.
Green talked about being unable to use all three channels of the court because of how NZ defence set up.
First offensive penalty against NZ, Mes called, Jamaica convert.
all-square again and the Aussie crowd loves it.
NZ fans giving it back though!
Few too many turnovers for NZ at the moment, bad passes or loose hands. Needs to be tidied up.
That's 10 penalties against Mes.
She's not getting too many go her way and I bet she's feeling a few elbows!
Jamaica hit the front for the first time since the first goal.
and they have the centre.
@KellyO-Gee: we couldn't possibly say....
HEad clash between Williams and Cullen...looks like both ok, but Williams reeled away.
Brilliant play down both ends of the court, but NZ miss the shot.
Jamaica have time for another one here...oop, no NZ win it back
Half time and the Aussies are on their feet for the Jamaicans!
Teams head off under the stands, Taumaunu and Wilson grab a few stats from the guru Dr Bobby Willcox.
Scoring stats - halftime
Mes 10/13, Tutaia 14/20
Aiken 21/23, Beckford, 6/6
NZ conceded 16 goals in that quarter, as the ball started to find its way to Aiken far easier.
The style of umpiring is incredibly different from what the Ferns had the other night. It's one of those things where the players are expected adjust, but boy that must be very difficult when the change is so vast.
Players are back out on court. de Bruin will be out there for NZ at GD in the only change I can see at the mo.
Yip just the change at GD for NZ
play underway, Ferns possession.
Tutaia gets the first after a nice steady attack from NZ.
Kiwi fans asking Michelle to blow the whistle.
....she did, but sent it the other way.
Now one goes against the Jamaicans. I've got no idea what Aiken did wrong!
Great defence of the NZ centre pass from the Jamaicans at the moment, but New Zealand's second phase is clicking into gear nicely.
Of course NZ led from go-to-woe against Australia, so this is the first time we get to see what they're like having to chase down an opposition.
Aiken nearly turns herself inside out to get that one. She's like a contorsionist.
de Bruin, perfect touch to win it back for NZ.
Jamaica overcook the pass to Aiken that time and Stacey Facey (he he) can't quite win it back for Jam at the other end.
Big chance here for Jam to go back out to four, but NZ somehow disrupt to win it back.
Cullen just absolutely picked the pocket of her opposite then. She's having a great tournament so far.
NZ fans are starting to lose their rags at some of the calls and late hits from the Jamaicans.
Better outside defence from NZ puts pressure on the feeder who fires it out the back.
NZ the chance to go ahead here.
