Oribe Peralta has opened the scoring. He just ran on the inside of Tommy Smith, recieved a clever through ball and lobbed the ball over the oncoming Glen Moss. Great finish.
If you're doing the maths at home this tie just went to about impossible
The goal was against the run of play, but it also showcased the Mexican's talent. It was such a clinical finish. One chance, one goal.
That goal was a byproduct of the major risk in regards to the team that has been picked for tonight. Always were going to be vulnerable on the counterattack. For mine, Andrew Durante held off his man too much there given where they were, while Storm Roux was caught out completely early in the move
17 minutes in now and the All Whites need to regroup quickly.
The sting has gone from the crowd. NZ needed to score first here to give themselves any hope of a miracle..
Tuiloma knocks in a nice looking cross from the left hand side but Munoz comes out to the penalty spot and claims it.
Tuiloma clears from inside the All Whites box this time as another dangerous Mexican cross is whipped in. The 18-year old has made a confident start.
Shane Smetlz has picked up a yellow card for a very soft aerial challenge. Not a lot in that.
Barbarouses, Brockie and Smeltz very nearly team up for an All Whites chance but the final ball is no good.
All Whites again caught defending on the counter, that was a quality save from Moss to deny Mexico there
Mexico break and have a great chance of their own. The All Whites look incredibly susceptible to the Mexican counter attack.
Every time the All Whites go forward and lose it, they are in big trouble. But they have to keep throwing numbers forward because they do look likely in the attacking third.
Great tackle from Storm Roux and the crowd loves it.
It's exciting end to end action here. NZ attack, lose the ball and Mexico exploit the gaps in the Kiwi defence.
Mexico have had the better chances though. It's all been half-chances up the Kiwis end while Mexico are genuinely looking like scoring every time they break.
Andrew Durante is getting caught out here with regularity. Usually one of the Phoenix's best, the jump to international level is proving to be a big one
Remember, Durante probably wouldn't be playing had Winston Reid not been injured either...
27 minutes gone in the first half and the speed of the game has slowed down a little bit. Kiwis with an attacking feeekick now and all the big men get in the box.
Disappointing delivery though and the Mexican keeper easily claims it again.
Michael Burgess and I believe this may be the shortest All Whites side ever to take the paddock. James, Barbarouses, Rojas, McGlinchey, Tuiloma notably short...
New Zealand have been cut apart. A ball slotted through the All Whites' flat back four opened the Kiwis up, and a square ball was played across the six yard box for Peralta to finish. His second of the night.
Perhaps some inexperience shown across the back line there. The full backs were very flat and one ball easily opened them up.
After 30 minutes playing defensively at the Azteca New Zealand held the Mexicans at 0-0. After 30 tonight with an attacking game plan they are down 2-0.
Pretty much the same goal as the second. Kiwi defence caught square, one ball opened them up, the ball was rolled across the six yard box and Peralta got his hat trick.
NZ are being opened up far too easily. Naive defending from the back four is allowing the Mexicans to run in behind at will.
Ten minutes till halftime and this has the potential to get ugly.
Jimenez breaks through on goal and is 1v1 with Moss, goes around him but then hits his shot into the retreating Tommy Smith.
