Spithill on the start: "We just saw an opportunity there. At night we think about these starts. It was a physical race and theboys really dug in."
Spithill on the boat: "She's all good."
"We've just being doing a lot of work at night. Our design and engineer team have been putting in a lot of work. But they've been rewarded - the boat is getting faster and faster and tere's a lot of belief on board."
Spithill message to people: "We're not going to stop. We are going to go to the end. We really want this."
Barker on start: "It was an absolute shocker. We tried to make a bit of a play to mix it up a bit but got ourselves in a really bad spot. It was a bad option."
Barker on start: "We had to try drag it off the lay line and we tried to squash them down below it. The problem for us was we were way too early and killing way too much time."
Barker on boat speed: "I think considering the amount we gave up at the start to be as close at the finish gives us a lot of confidence."
Barker as possibly playing postponement: "Nah, we're out here to race and, if the conditions are suitable, we're into it."
The stats show port entry doesn't guarantee victory (it's actually really even) but it gives that boat first dibs on going for the leeward side and trying to get to the first mark first
I'm afraid, Tripsinger, it's virtually impossible to practice these things without others watching. Oracle (and Artemis) had spies down in Auckland in the same way Team NZ watched Oracle's every move
We're about 20 minutes away from the start of race 18.
Will it be the final race or will Oracle join Team NZ on match point, setting up a winner-takes-all showdown tomorrow?
Well, Grand Dalton has taken himself back off the boat after race 17. Perhaps he wasn't our lucky charm after all...
Team NZ do indeed have port entry. That should help them make amends for that disastrous start.
Well, I can tell you it's very even. Pretty tough race to call, this one.
The pressure must be growing with every race and every loss. But Barker said before this morning's race he wouldn't switch positions and I'm sure that remains his thinking.
