For those of you just tuning in, racing has been delayed as the wind fills in and we have, at this stage, a start time of 8.45am. That means we are likely to get only one race in this morning
Great video below of the late and great Sir Peter Blake in the press conference after winning the America's Cup in 1995 after few hours after celebrating the victory.
Hi Robbin. In 1995 team head Peter Blake, later Sir Peter, wore red socks on board as a lucky charm. It ended up being a fairly powerful campaign with lots in NZ showing their support for Team NZ by wearing red socks.
If this thing rolls over to tomorrow, Oracle will have port entry for the first race, Team NZ for the second. Port entry keeps rotating for first race of the day, but Team NZ will carry over their port advantage into the second race
11b kts at top of course, 9 kts at bottom at the moment.
Both boats are out there on the course, with nine minutes to race start.
Team NZ getting up to 26kts at the moment.
It sounds like the wind is coming out of the right direction at 11 knots and peaking at 14 knots. Hoping for astart at 8.45am (NZT)
Team NZ still doing a few warm-up sprints. Oracle just sitting there at the moment.
Oracle up to 31kts now as they warm-up. Meant to start in under five minutes now. No sign of postponement yet...
Looks like we will race in 3 minutes.
Team NZ will enter with code zero sail up.
Team NZ set to enter the course. 2 minutes to race start.
Team NZ hitting 30 knots at they enter the start box. They didn't need the code zero for the entry, which is a good sign
They didn't need the code zero in the end so enough breeze without it.
Spithill looks like he's trying to gybe in behind Team NZ. It's slow stuff
It's very slow going in these winds.
